Addressing the e-waste challenge through data and statistics

This online self-paced course organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) aims to provide an overview of the global e-waste challenge.

This badge attests understanding of e-waste statistics and legislation based on the latest data from the Global E-waste Monitor and the Global E-waste Statistics Partnership.

This course was organized in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

OBJECTIVES:

·        Understand the fundamentals of spectrum management and establish a spectrum management regulatory framework.

·        Gain an understanding of the role of ITU, region, and National Regulatory Authorities in spectrum management.

·        Build spectrum management knowledge on international regulations, recommendations, principles, and processes for various services.

·        Understand the guidelines on EMF human exposure limits and other related topics to spectrum management.

CONTENT:

1.     General principles of e-waste statistics.

2.     How to measure imports and exports of e-waste.

3.     How to track sales of EEE and how to measure e-waste generated.

4.     The e-waste toolkit and the EEE pom calculation tool.

5.     Estimating PV panels.

6.     An introduction to the e-waste generated calculation tool.

7.     Measuring other e-waste flows: e-waste collected and recycled & e-waste mixed in residual waste.
